A little gentle care will help keep your felt Christmas decorations ready for the next festive season.

Dusting & spot cleaning

Gently remove dust with a soft, dry brush, taking care around stitching and delicate details. For small marks, test an inconspicuous area first, as colours may run when wet. Dab gently with a cool damp cloth and a small amount of mild soap or wool wash, then remove the soap with a clean damp cloth. Avoid rubbing, scrubbing or soaking decorations.

Air drying

Gently reshape if needed and lay flat on a clean towel to air dry completely. Keep out of direct sunlight and away from heaters. Do not pack away while damp.

Hanging your decorations

Where an existing hanging loop is fitted, slip it over a secure branch or suitable hook. Support the decoration while positioning it, rather than pulling on the felt, stitching or decorative details. Display away from heat and damp.

Storage between Christmases

Pack clean, completely dry decorations loosely in a clean, sealed container, cushioning delicate shapes with plain tissue paper rather than compressing them. Store in a cool, dry cupboard away from damp, heat and direct sunlight.

Helping prevent moth damage

Clean the storage area before packing decorations away. A well-sealed container helps keep moths out; check occasionally for insects, loose fibres or damage. If you notice signs of pests, separate affected items and clean the storage area before repacking. Do not rely on scented sachets alone for moth protection.
